King Charles’ coronation is coming up on 6 May this year.
Attention is focused on whether Prince Harry and Princess Meghan, who have left the royal family, will attend this historic ceremony, but if they do, there are concerns.
A source close to the royal family told ET magazine, “The royal family is concerned that if Prince Harry and Princess Meghan attend the coronation, it could take the spotlight away from the King himself and overshadow the coronation itself”.
He added: “If Prince Harry and his wife actually attend, they fear that the private affairs within the royal family might be exposed again. That’s why efforts are being made to prevent that,” said the official. Prince Harry and his wife have revealed many things about the inner workings of the royal family in the Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan, and in their autobiography book Spare.
However, contrary to the royal family’s concerns, King Charles is keen for Prince Harry, their son and daughter to attend the ceremony.
Prince Harry and Meghan officially received invitations to the coronation earlier this year in March, their representatives said in a statement. However, they did not disclose information on whether Prince Harry and Princess Meghan would attend, saying, “A decision as to whether Prince Harry and Princess Meghan will attend cannot be given at this time”.
