A super-precious Yu-Gi-Oh! card is to be auctioned through eBay, and it’s becoming a hot topic of conversation.
The man who has recently decided to put his super-precious Yu-Gi-Oh! cards up for auction is Tyler Gressl.
Tyler said he has treasured the card for 18 years and has finally decided to give it up.
The card, named “Tyler the Great Warrior”, was created in 2005 for Tyler, who at the time was suffering from an extremely rare form of liver cancer, through Make-A-Wish (an organisation that helps children with incurable diseases to dream). It is said to be the only card of its kind in the world.
In a mini-documentary published on YouTube, Tyler confesses that at the age of 14, she was diagnosed with “a rare liver cancer with only 200 reported cases in the US”. Initially, through Make-A-Wish, he wanted a Porsche.

Tyler gave up on a Porsche because he was not old enough to drive at the time. The next thing he wanted was a Yu-Gi-Oh card. Make-A-Wish then took Tyler, who was obsessed with the franchise at the time, and his parents to New York, where they were introduced to Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!
Why did he decide to sell the custom-made Yu-Gi-Oh! cards he had cherished for 18 years now? Tyler says he wanted to “start a family and run my own business”.
I’ve treasured my cards for a long time and I hope I can make other people treasure them too. … or give them to someone who knows the true value of the card and all the history involved in its creation.”
According to Kotaku, the auction organisers have no idea how much the ‘Tyler the Great Warrior’ card will sell for, as they have never seen such a rare card on offer before. Tyler said he had previously been approached to sell the card, and the price offered by the prospective buyer was well over $75,000 (approximately ¥9.9 million).
The ‘Tyler the Great Warrior’ card will be auctioned on eBay later this month.
