BTS’s SUGA’s solo album ‘D-DAY’ is creating a global sensation.

The title track ‘Haegeum’ of ‘D-DAY’, which was released on 21 April under the stage name ‘Agust D’, reached No. 1 on the iTunes ‘Top Songs’ chart in 86 countries and regions including the UK, Germany and France until 9am on 22 April. The music video for ‘Haegeum’ was released on 22 April. The music video for ‘Haegeum’ had over 10 million views as of 9am on 22 April and ranked in the top of YouTube’s fastest-rising video charts in various countries/regions.

In addition, ‘D-DAY’ was ranked No. 1 on the iTunes ‘Top Albums’ chart in 67 countries/regions worldwide, including the US, Canada and Australia, until 9am on 22 April.’ Songs from ‘D-DAY’, including ‘D-Day’, ‘HUH? (feat. j-hope)’, ‘AMYGDALA’, ‘SDL’, ‘People Pt.2 (feat. IU)’, ‘Polar Night’, ‘Interlude : Dawn’, ‘Snooze (feat. Ryuichi Sakamoto, WOOSUNG of The Rose)’ and ‘Life Goes On’ also reached the top of the iTunes charts.

Furthermore, ‘Haegeum’ was streamed 3,937,168 times on the latest ‘Daily Top Songs Global’ chart (21 Apr) by Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming service, and rose to No.11, reaching 90 regions/nations worldwide by 22 Apr. It topped the iTunes ‘Top Songs’ chart.

On 21 April, ‘D-DAY’ sold 1,072,311 copies on its first day of release and became a ‘million seller’ according to Hunt Chart, a Korean album sales volume aggregation website. This is a new record for the most sales on the first day of release for a solo singer’s album.

‘D-DAY’ is SUGA’s first solo album in three years since her mixtape ‘D-2’ released in May 2020, and is an album that melts the message of focusing on ‘me’ and ‘now’ in an era of excessively fast and enormous information. The title track ‘Haegeum’ throws the topic of ‘freedom’ towards those who live bound by various restrictions and limitations in daily life and society through the Korean musical instrument ‘haegeum’ and the overlapping expression ‘release what is forbidden’.
