Stranger Things is a popular international drama series available on Netflix.
Season 4, which was distributed last year, was a huge hit, but it seems that only that actor is eligible for entry at this year’s Emmy Awards.
Stranger Things is a sci-fi drama about a young girl, boys and their families with supernatural powers who face a series of unexplained incidents in the small town of Hawkins in the 1980s. Production of Season 4, the latest season, was delayed due to the spread of the new coronavirus, but was distributed last summer in a ‘two-part* format.
Vol. 1 (7 episodes) was exclusively distributed from Friday 27 May and Vol. 2 (2 episodes) from Friday 1 July.

Vol. 1 of Season 4, which was eligible for the 2022 Emmy Awards, was nominated for 13 categories and won five, including Best Music Direction; Vol. 2 is eligible for this year’s Emmy Awards due to its distribution date, but the only actor who can enter as a nominee is guest starring as Billy The only actor who could enter as a nominee is Daker Montgomery, who guest-starred as Billy.
Variety notes that the reason for this is that in order to be eligible for nominations in the Best Drama Series and Major Performance categories, a show must have at least six episodes in a season.
The fact that the show will not be nominated for this year’s Emmy Awards is very disappointing news for fans, as the main cast, including Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink, gave excellent performances in season four.
It should be noted that the final episode of season four, ‘Chapter Nine: The Piggyback’, has been entered in several categories, including directing and writing, at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which are given to the technicians behind television programmes.
Voting for the Emmy Awards opens on 15 June. The 75th Emmy Awards ceremony will also be held on 18 September.
