Singer Taylor Swift is currently alleged to be dating Matthew Healy of British band The 1975.
However, Taylor’s fans seem to be against their relationship.
In April this year, Taylor shocked fans when it was reported that she had ended her six-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn.
However, earlier this month, less than a month after the break-up report, British tabloid The Sun reported that Taylor is dating Matthew. Additionally, it reported that the two had been in a relationship in the past.
‘Taylor and Matthew are madly in love,’ a source quipped, adding, ‘They had a brief fling nearly a decade ago, but it didn’t work out then,’ revealing that they are madly in love with each other.
‘Unlike their last relationship (where they deliberately avoided attention), this time around they want to ‘own’ the relationship and won’t hide it.’
However, Taylor and Matthew’s relationship is currently divided amongst Taylor’s fans. This is due to Matthew’s ‘Nazi salute’ and his statement that dating Taylor would be a ‘loss of manhood’.
Matthew was revealed to have made a Nazi-style salute at a live performance just days after International Holocaust Memorial Day (a day to remember the victims of the Holocaust*) on 27 January, and the footage caused controversy on Twitter.
*The systematic genocide of Jews and others committed by Nazi Germany, along with its allies and collaborators.

At the time, some fans argued that Matthew’s gesture was merely satirical and that he was calling others Nazis. However, this defence was criticised, with one TikToker saying, “It doesn’t matter. He’s not Jewish, he’s not Roma, there’s no way he could do that”.
He added: “Heh, so Matthew wanted to say that Kanye (West) and (Donald) Trump are Nazis. Did you have to go to the trouble of using a symbol that is banned in Germany to make people feel insecure?” he stated, accusing fans of defending Matthew.
In the same month of the uproar, Matthew posted a screenshot of the Wikipedia page ‘List of Jews’ on his Instagram story. The post is a macabre representation of the Nazis’ record of Jews during the Holocaust.
Not only that, but in the past Matthew has stated that dating Taylor would be a ‘loss of manhood’. Even though it was a long time ago, fans cannot forgive Matthew for insulting their favourite Taylor.
Fans cannot hide their rejection of Taylor and Matthew’s relationship; will there ever be a day in the future when their relationship will be accepted?
