Actor Victoria Justice (30), who starred in the drama VICTORiOUS. spoke out about her long-standing disagreement with co-star Ariana Grande (29).
Their ‘disagreements’ had often been rumoured since the filming of the drama.
VICTORiOUS is a comedy-drama that aired in the US from 2010-2013 and is set at the Hollywood High School for the Arts. Victoria played the lead role, while Ariana played a classmate.
Rumours of a ‘disagreement’ between the two were often heard during the filming of the drama.
The rumours started with a video interview in the magazine Popstar in 2013, in which several cast members, including the two of them, took to the stage.
During the interview, “Who usually sings the most?” was asked. The cast replied, “Ariana and Elizabeth Gillies, no?” Victoria replied, “Everyone sings”. The comment went viral on the internet.
Starting from this period, there were frequent rumours among fans that Victoria was ‘jealous’ of Ariana.
In February of the same year, a post on the question website ask.fm by someone believed to be Ariana herself about why VICTORiOUS was taken off the air became a hot topic.
‘VICTORiOUS’ ended because a girl said she didn’t want to do a touring event with all the performers. She chose to tour solo’, the post said.
That year, Victoria toured. Fans speculated that the ‘certain girl’ might be Victoria.
Victoria later tweeted. ‘Some of my friends tell on me to make themselves look good.’
However, their relationship seems to have improved in recent years: in mid-April, Victoria spoke to entertainment news website E! News about her and Ariana’s disagreement.
She said that the disagreement was ‘a funny thing for both of us’.
‘It’s just a fictional story being spread that I was jealous of Ariana and we didn’t get on.’
‘The media and people always want to put other people at odds with each other. That’s not valid anymore, it’s ridiculous to talk about it after 10 years.’
