Comedian and actor Pete Davidson left a radical voice message after animal rights groups accused him of buying a dog at a pet store.

Speaking of Pete, he and his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, bought a mixed breed dog, Cavapoo, at the Citipups pet store in New York City. However, the Internet was ablaze with anger over their choice to “buy” the dog.

According to a new Page Six report, Pete left a voice message for Daphna Nakminovic, senior vice president of cruelty investigations for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), stating that he is severely allergic to dogs and cannot own any breed. In that message, he also said, “My 2-year-old mother’s dog died a week ago, and we are all very sad, so we decided to get a specific dog,” adding that the dog he had purchased was actually for his mother.

He then finished that message with the F-word, “It’s boring, look it up before you make a news story for people,” and “Fuck you,” he said.

Later, Pete said in a statement to TMZ that his anger was due to the grief he and his family are experiencing in the face of the death of his dog Henry. I haven’t seen my mom and sister cry like that in over 20 years,” he said. I tried to cheer them up. I was already upset that the store filmed me without my permission or acknowledgement,” Pete explained. Then this organization [PETA] made a public spectacle of us, making our grieving situation even worse. I’m upset.

As for leaving a voice message, he said, “I chose my words poorly. I shouldn’t have said what I said, but I won’t apologize for standing up for myself and my family.
