He was so special to us…” Expresses sadness at phone-tapping trial
Prince Harry makes a rare comment about his ex-girlfriend who died in 2020.
Prince Harry is currently in court against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), publisher of the Mirror and other newspapers, for allegedly collecting information through illegal means such as wiretapping.
Appearing in London’s High Court on Wednesday, June 7, Prince Harry alleged that MGN had illegally tapped his phone for years and, in 2004, told paparazzi where he was going on a dinner date with the late TV presenter Caroline Flack.

When we arrived at the location, photographers were already waiting for us. From this it is clear that the story was leaked. The photographers had seen us arrive,” stated Prince Harry, “and the evening was special, just the two of us, me and Caroline. She is no longer with us like that,” he continued.
Prince Harry and Caroline Flack were reportedly together briefly in 2009.
In her 2014 memoir, “Storm in a C Cup,” about their romance at the time, Caroline wrote, “I was very excited when I found out I was going to meet Prince Harry through a friend. I was just sitting there, but he came over with his friends, and we all spent the time chatting and laughing,” she said of their first meeting. We had to stop seeing each other. I’m no longer Caroline Flack, the TV presenter, but Caroline Flack, Prince Harry’s little flirt,” she recalls.
Caroline, who was the host of the popular audition show “The X Factor” and other shows, took her own life in 2020 at the age of 40.
Prince Harry told the court, “The tabloids regularly published articles about me that were often wrong. But there are also bits and pieces of truth scattered about. I believe they were most likely obtained from voicemail intercepts and illegal intelligence gathering,” he complained.
