Chris Martin, frontman of the popular British rock band Coldplay, has announced that he has a serious lung infection and will postpone part of his concert tour.

 

On October 4, Coldplay posted a text titled “Postponement of Brazil Concert” on their official Twitter account. The band announced that they have been forced to postpone their Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo shows, which were scheduled to take place within the next three weeks, until next year because vocalist Chris Martin has been diagnosed with a serious lung infection.

Part of concert tour to be postponed

The Latin American leg of Coldplay’s world tour will begin with a series of dates at the Estadio Nilton Santos-Engenhao in Rio de Janeiro on October 11 and October 12, and will move to the Allianz Pqrque Stadium” in Sao Paulo from October 15 to 22.

 

A statement from the band read, “We are working as quickly as possible to finalize the new dates and will provide more details in the coming days.

 

Coldplay added, “We are very sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this has caused. We greatly appreciate your understanding during this difficult time when Chris’ health must be a priority”. The band also sent a message of encouragement to fans anxious about Chris’ condition, saying, “We are optimistic that Chris will return to good health after his prescribed medical leave and look forward to resuming touring soon.”
