English Premier League club Manchester United is in talks to sell its stake to a consortium led by a Qatari royal family.
Manchester United is currently owned by the American Glazer family.
This summer, however, they are working to sell that stake, and two candidates have been selected for the transfer.
One proposal was made by the wealthy Jim Ratcliffe, founder of the English chemical company INEOS.
The other was a consortium led by Qatari royalty Shaikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to Reuters, Manchester United is currently in exclusive negotiations with the latter Qatari consortium for a deal worth more than $6 billion (about ¥838.92 billion).
However, the situation is still in flux, as the exclusive rights may not be maintained in the event of a new bid from Jim Ratcliffe.
Manchester United’s stock price has reportedly gained up to 15% on the news.
