Carrie Fisher, who played Leia Organa in the “Star Wars” series, fascinated fans around the world.

On December 27, 2016, she passed away unexpectedly due to a heart attack, but it is known that she had finished filming the movie “Wonderwell” six weeks before her death.

Seven years later, “Wonderwell,” Carrie’s last film, will be released digitally on June 23.

Wonderwell” is the story of the journey of Violet, a curious 12-year-old girl, set in modern-day Italy and a fantasy world.

Director Vlad Marsavin revealed that the reason it took seven years to release the film was due to the sudden death of Carrie, the spread of the new coronavirus, and visual effects challenges that caused the budget to balloon.

Director Vlad Marsavin then told Deadline, “Now is the perfect time to share Carrie’s magical time on screen as Hazel [Carrie’s character’s name in the film],” adding, “Carrie was so full of life during the entire shoot. We even celebrated her 60th birthday together in Italy, where we filmed. Filming that day went on until 2 a.m., and she invited the whole team to celebrate with her. The party was too loud, though, and the police came and broke it up. That’s why her death was such a shock to the whole team,” he added.

Singer Rita Ora and actors Nell Tiger Free and Sebastian Croft also appear in Wonderwell.

Rita Ora said of working with Carey, “Working together was one of those experiences that I will never forget.
