One of the biggest stunts in the film involves Tom jumping off a cliff on a motorcycle.

He performs a great feat by opening his parachute and gliding into a train.

Speaking to Insider on the red carpet at the UK premiere, director Christopher McQuarrie said the ambitious stunt was a surprise not only to fans but also to the film’s studio, Paramount.

Commenting on the stunt during the pandemic of the spread of the new coronavirus, McCarey said, “Luckily, we were in one country and they were in another. We were talking about it in the abstract, until we actually saw it …… None of us would have fully grasped what we were getting ourselves into until we actually did it,” he revealed.

Paramount previously released a making-of video detailing what went into this stunt, with Tom practicing the scene many times before production began in Norway.

There, Tom revealed his feelings, saying, “I’ve always admired it, and more than anything, I want to please the audience.

Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One” opens in the U.S. on Wednesday, July 12.
