Oscar-winning actor Alan Arkin, best known for his roles in “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Catch-22,” has died at the age of 89, People and other media outlets have reported.

Alan’s sons, Adam, Matthew, and Anthony, acknowledged the sad news, telling People, “Our father was a force of nature with exceptional talent as an artist and as a man.” “He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

 

 

Comedian Jason Alexander also updated his Twitter page, saying, “A very wonderful and original voice of comedy. And in the few occasions I had the pleasure of being in his presence, he was a kind and generous soul,” he said. And the laughs from his brilliant work seem endless.” May he rest in peace,” he continued.

Speaking of Alan, it was reported at the time that he had been hospitalized in November 2015 after suffering a mild stroke.

 

Alan was an award-winning actor who began his career on Broadway, debuting in 1961 in “From the Second City.” Two years later, he won a Tony Award for “Enter Laughing” and a second in 1975 for “The Sunshine Boys.

 

Also active on screen, Alan won an Oscar in 2006 for his supporting role in “Little Miss Sunshine” and a Golden Globe 40 years ago for “Operation America Landing.”

 

Most recently, he played Norman Newlander in “The Kominsky Method” from 2018 to 2021 and was the voice of J.D. Salinger in “Bojack Horseman.
