Hayley Atwell, who stars as Grace in the film “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One” starring Tom Cruise, spoke to The Independent about her reported romance with Tom in the past.
Hayley and Tom’s romance was first reported in 2020. It was reported that they hit it off during the filming of “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One” and developed a relationship. However, they were never photographed in a decisive moment, and the breakup was reported in June 2022 with no further news, except that the three of them, including co-star Pom Klementieff, watched the Wimbledon Championships together in July 2021 and made headlines. Hayley announced her engagement to music producer Ned Wolfgang Kelly in April of this year.
In an interview with The Independent, Hayley softly denied the theory of her love affair with Tom, saying that he and Christopher McCurry, director of “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One,” are “like related uncles” to her, and continued: “(Tom’s reported love affair with Hayley) has been rumored for years.
I thought there were some strange rumors [about my love affair with Tom],” he said. I thought it was vile, a little dirty, and filthy. I should not be judged for that. Why should my relationships with workmates and bosses be inferred or projected upon me?”
He continued, saying that he was “upset” when this rumor led to scrutiny of his personal life, “It would involve people in my life and personal life = people who had to be on the receiving end of it. And eventually, it became an invasion (of privacy),” he added.
Incidentally, after the reports of their passionate relationship came out, Hayley consulted Tom on how to handle the issue, to which he replied, “You know exactly who you are. You know yourself very well. She revealed that Tom gave her advice. That’s all that matters. As long as you are sincere with yourself and understand what your values are, it doesn’t matter what people think of you,” he revealed that he was given the advice.
