The North American leg of the tour, scheduled for the summer, will be postponed due to health concerns, but this appears to be the result of a compromise between Madonna and her team, Page Six reports.

A source said, “Madonna told everyone she wanted to do it all (immediately), but her management team and insurance company pushed back. There was a bit of a battle going on,” he said, adding that Madonna wanted to start the tour sooner. But the source said that Madonna’s management team and the tour’s insurer insisted that she put the tour on hold after Madonna was found unconscious and admitted to the ICU last month.

‘Even though she still has rehearsals left, she’s been working on them for months and knows exactly what she needs to do, and she just wants to get out there. She wants to get out anyway, just like her fans want to see her,” the source continued.

On Monday, Madonna released her first statement since her illness, posting on Instagram. ‘Thank you for all the positive energy, prayers, healing and encouragement. I feel your love,” she thanked her fans and continued, “Our current plan is to reschedule her North American tour and begin a tour in Europe in October.”

Madonna’s tour had been planned before the pandemic. In the weeks before she became ill, Madonna rehearsed 12 hours a day. The tour was scheduled to begin in Vancouver on July 15.
