The Boy and the Heron,” the latest Studio Ghibli film directed by Hayao Miyazaki, will open in Japan on Friday, July 14.

The film is the first feature-length film in 10 years by director Hayao Miyazaki, who announced his retirement with “The Wind Rises” released in 2013, but has since retracted his previous statement. However, Studio Ghibli has taken the unusual step of “not promoting the film at all in advance.

At this point, the only information available is that the film is an original story based on the 1937 book “The Boy and the Heron” by Genzaburo Yoshino. It is said to be an “epic fantasy,” but the synopsis, characters, and even the voice cast remain a mystery. Toshio Suzuki, a producer at Studio Ghibli, commented that “deep down, I think this is exactly what movie fans want,” and compared it to Hollywood’s practice of revealing much of the film’s content through trailers and advance promotion.

The Boy and the Heron” will be the first Studio Ghibli film to be released in an IMAX theater, a theater with state-of-the-art standards for image processing technology that provides an unprecedented experience of presence and immersion through the clarity of the images projected on the big screen and the high quality of the sound. The clear images projected on the big screen and the high-quality sound provide an unprecedented sense of presence and an immersive experience. In addition to IMAX, the film will also be released in Dolby Cinema, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X theater formats. All theaters will begin showing the film on Friday, July 14, and the screening locations can be found on the official website.

The Boy and the Heron” has also announced that the theatrical brochure will be available after the film’s release.
