Leandro, who was 19 years old, was found dead in his New York home on July 2 this month.

On July 13, Sofia Haley Marks, 20, was taken into custody by police for her alleged involvement in Leandro’s death, the New York Post reported. Marks is charged with drug distribution and is scheduled to appear in Manhattan court on July 14, according to the paper.

De Niro’s adopted daughter, actress Drena, previously wrote on Instagram that her son died after taking pills laced with fentanyl, an opioid said to be 50 times more powerful than heroin. Someone sold it to my son knowing it was laced with fentanyl,” she wrote, “and these people are still buying and selling these. My son is gone forever, and yet.”

Earlier, Dorena had shared the news of her son’s death on the same social media site, saying. ‘My beautiful, sweet angel. Ever since I felt you in my belly, I have loved you more than words or descriptions can express.””You were the joy of my heart and everything about you was so pure and real in my life. I wish I could be there for you now.” “I don’t know how I will live without you, but I will try my best to live and spread the love and light that I was able to feel by being your mommy. You were so loved and appreciated. I wish I could have saved you with just that love. I am so sorry for your loss, my baby.”
