Singer Ariana Grande, known for hit songs such as “Break Free” and “thank u, next,” and her husband, real estate agent Dalton Gomez, are moving toward divorce.
Ariana has been in the UK since last December to film the movie version of “Wicked,” and has been living apart from Dalton, whose work is based in Los Angeles. People USA reported that around the same time Ariana moved to the UK, earlier this year, the two decided to separate in anticipation of a divorce.
Ariana and Dalton began dating in January 2020 and married about a year and a half later, in May 2021. On their wedding anniversary this past May, Ariana posted a photo of her and Dalton and a message on Instagram celebrating their second wedding anniversary, but if this report is true, their marriage had already broken up by this time.
As for the reason for the breakup, which is of interest, it seems that living apart in the U.K. and the U.S. had no small effect, with one source saying, “She has been living happily in Los Angeles for the past few years. She wanted to live there with Dalton,” and “Dalton is very focused on his career and needs to live in Los Angeles. That was definitely a problem for them. Dalton’s career is demanding and he can’t leave Los Angeles often. So when they started filming ‘Wicked’ in England, they were forced to stay married long distance,” he told People.
Another source told Page Six that the two had been having problems even before their separation began, and that Dalton once visited Ariana in the U.K. to try to repair their relationship, but “it didn’t work out.
Incidentally, Ariana, who was spotted just the other day watching the Wimbledon Championships with her “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey, did not have a wedding ring on her left ring finger.
Ariana and Dalton did not work out as a couple, but they want to remain best friends, and a source who gave a statement to People said, “Ariana has only kind words to say about Dalton. When they were married, he was her number one fan,” and “they have developed a quiet and loving friendship [since their separation].
