Gigi Hadid was enjoying her vacation in the Cayman Islands with her girlfriends last week. It was revealed that she was arrested for marijuana possession. Local media outlet Cayman Mar Road reported the news earlier this week.

According to the report, Gigi arrived at Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman, one of the Cayman Islands, by private jet on Monday, July 10, local time. After an X-ray scan and a manual check by Customs and Border Protection agents, “marijuana and paraphernalia used for marijuana use were found in his luggage,” according to the report.

Although the amount was “relatively small and believed to be for personal use,” Gigi was arrested for “importing marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. He was transported to a detention center. Marijuana was also found in the luggage of one of his companions, Leah Nicole McCarthy. She was also sent to jail with Gigi.

The two were later released on bail and appeared in summary court the next day and pleaded guilty, paying a fine of $1,000 (about ¥139,000) and avoiding a conviction record. Gigi’s representative commented to several media outlets, including People magazine, after the news report. ‘The marijuana was purchased legally in New York City for medical use. It has also been legal in Grand Cayman since 2017. Gigi has no criminal record.”

The trip was to celebrate Leah’s birthday, according to a report in the newspaper New York Post. Her agent says she “enjoyed the rest of her vacation on the island,” which is evident from Gigi’s Instagram. She posted a bikini and also showed off her dragon faux tattoo on her waist with a smile. She had made no mention of her arrest so far, but when the news broke widely in the United States, she uploaded a photo looking back on her trip. She wrote, “All’s well that ends well,” a comment that smacks of a series of events.
