The film centers on J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist known as the “father of the atomic bomb.

Oppenheimer, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film centers on J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Killian Murphy), an American theoretical physicist known as the “father of the atomic bomb. There is a scene in the film in which Oppenheimer and his mistress Jean Tatlock, played by Florence Pugh, have sex, and Florence is nude.

Killian revealed about the scene, “That scene was written intentionally. He [director Nolan] knew that that scene would elevate the film. When you see that scene, I think it’s incredibly powerful,” he continued. And as for Florence, “I think she’s really phenomenal,” he said. “She has a phenomenal presence, both as a person and on screen. Her impact in ‘Oppenheimer’ is quite shocking considering the size of the role,” he exclaimed.

According to Variety, the R-rated film has already earned $80.5 million in its opening weekend in the United States.

Along with Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” the two films have even coined the term “verbenheimer” to describe the boom. The two films had the fourth-largest opening weekend in film history.

Oppenheimer” also stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Matt Damon, and Rami Malek.
