Madonna, who was hospitalized and recuperated from a bacterial infection in June 2023, thanked her loved ones for their kindness on social media on July 30, local time, about a month after she was released from the hospital.
According to her manager Guy Oseary, the infection that the 64-year-old Madonna contracted was serious enough to keep her in the ICU for several days.

She posted an update on her official accounts on various social networking sites on July 30, local time, saying, “Love from family and friends is the best medicine. It’s been a month since I left the hospital and I can look back,” she wrote. “As a mother, it’s easy to get caught up in the needs of your children and the seemingly endless “giving. But when push came to shove, my children were there for me. I was able to see a side of them that I had never seen before. That alone improved my situation,” she continued.
She added, “So did the love and support from my friends.”
In the posted text, Madonna also wrote about the incredible gift she received from Oseary during her recuperation. A Polaroid of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face on it, taken by Andy Warhol. A perfect triangle of brilliance,” she described the photo.
She added, “When I opened this gift, I sobbed. I cried because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how lucky I am to have known these people and so many others who have passed away. Thank you @guyoseary for this gift! And thank you angels for protecting me and letting me stay to finish the job!” He wrote.
