Johnny Depp, who took the stand at a trial in which he sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation, claimed that when he stopped fighting and tried to leave the scene, Amber made a comment implying that he was suicidal.
Johnny Depp stuck by Amber Heard’s suicide comment.
Actor Johnny Depp, who has starred in numerous hit movies including the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, sued his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, for defamation of character, and Johnny himself testified in court.
On April 20 (local time), Johnny took the stand again and claimed that he had a fight with Amber in the past, and when he tried to leave the scene, she implied that he would commit suicide.
Amber claims that Johnny is the perpetrator of domestic violence (DV), and one of the issues in the trial is whether Johnny is the perpetrator of DV or not. Johnny has consistently denied the allegations of domestic violence since the past trial.
On the day of the trial, Johnny looked back on his marriage to Amber in court and said that Amber often “hit” him out of frustration and anger, “starting with slapping, pushing, throwing the TV remote control at my head, and so on…” As they fought over and over, Johnny said that Amber’s behavior became a regular occurrence. He stated that such behavior by Amber became a regular occurrence. She also stated that when Johnny tried to leave to end the fight, she made comments that could be perceived as suicidal and tried to force him to stay by saying, “I can’t live without you.
Johnny’s mother was known to be violent, not only towards Johnny and his sister, but also towards Johnny’s father, her husband, who, according to Johnny, once tried to commit suicide after his father left his mother, and although it resulted in an unsuccessful attempt, this event became a traumatic.
Johnny said, “Mr. Hurd mentioned suicide several times, and it eventually became a factor,” and when asked why he still did not leave her, he replied, “Why did I stay? Probably because my father stayed (in the marriage despite the abuse)…. I didn’t want to fail. I wanted to try to make it work. I thought I could help her. I thought I might be able to bring her back. Because the Amber Heard I had known for the first year or year and a half was not like that, and suddenly she was the enemy,” he replied.
Incidentally, Laurel Anderson, a Marriage counselor who was recently called as a witness, said that she had never actually witnessed any violent behavior between Johnny and Amber, but noted that they were in a “mutually abusive” relationship and were likely to have been violent toward each other The report states.
