Taika Waititi, the director of “Thor: Love and Thunder” and other films, revealed that it was his wife Rita Ora who proposed to him.

Taika Waititi told “Vogue” the moment Rita asked him to marry her a year ago.

She proposed to me and I said yes instantly,” he told the magazine. Rita proposed to Waititi last summer while on vacation in Palm Springs, and the two had an impromptu ceremony at their Los Angeles home in August 2022.

Director Waititi said, “There were only about eight people there, close friends and family, and my parents ZOOM,” adding that Ola’s sisters Elena and daughters Te Hinekahu, 11, and Matewa Kiritapu, 7, attended the ceremony at their home.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rita revealed the “perfect” Tom Ford wedding dress she wore for her marriage to director Waititi. She called Ford “one of my favorite designers and one of my favorite human beings in general,” and revealed that her wedding in his embellished lace dress was “a dream come true.”

Rita said, “It was unplanned, I didn’t know if the right dress was in town or not, so I just took a risk and went to the Tom Ford store. I was so happy,” Rita raved to a fashion magazine about her long-sleeved white lace one-shoulder column dress.

In January, Rita admitted rumors of her marriage to director Waititi while showing off her expensive emerald engagement ring in promotion of her wedding-themed “You Only Love Me” music video.
