The Maui wildfires are the worst in U.S. history in the past 100 years, with more than 96 dead and about 1,000 missing.

The two, whose combined net worth is estimated at about $345 million, were staying at a resort in Wailea, about a 30-mile drive from the devastation in Lahaina, and were pictured playing in the water with their seven-month-old son, who was born as a surrogate, and people called them “disgusting” and “ignorant. She was criticized by people as “disgusting” and “ignorant.

Meanwhile, a few days earlier, Honolulu-born actor Jason Momoa warned against traveling to the island. On Instagram, he wrote, “Do not travel to Maui. Do not assume that you are needed on an island that is suffering so deeply. Mahalo to all who donated and showed aloha (love and compassion) to this community in their time of need for help.”

In a post produced by the local nonprofit Aina Momona, Jason continued by saying that he did not want tourists to come because this natural disaster “will affect the resources of all of Maui for many years to come. Our community needs time to heal, grieve, and recover. Our community needs time to heal, grieve, and recover, which means the fewer visitors we have, the better, using our precious resources, which are currently very limited.
