Johnny Depp uttered a “one-liner” during his trial

During the trial in which actor Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, for defamation, Johnny uttered a line from Jack Sparrow, the character he played in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film series, which has become a topic of conversation.

Amber took the stand at the trial held on May 5 (local time) and immediately after she said “Johnny was in possession of a bottle containing cocaine,” Johnny heard the word “Jar” and whispered “Jar of dirt” to the lawyer sitting next to him. He whispered to the lawyer sitting next to him, “Jar of dirt. Some fans may recognize the phrase “jar of dirt” from the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” in which Jack Sparrow sings “Jar of dirt, jar of dirt, what’s in the jar of dirt? It is assumed that Johnny remembers this scene and uttered the words “Jar of dirt”.

Incidentally, Johnny claims that he was fired from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series because of an op-ed* published in the Washington Post in 2018, which is the origin of this defamation suit, but Amber’s lawyers claim that Disney had earlier fired Johnny from the ” Pirates of the Caribbean” series, and one of the points of contention in the trial is when Disney made that decision.

*Amber, who wrote the editorial, did not name Johnny, but claimed that she is a survivor of domestic violence/domestic abuse, and also revealed the details of the DV she accused him of two years ago (i.e., the timing suggests that Johnny was the perpetrator).

Although Disney has never mentioned Johnny’s departure from the series and has never directly fired him, it is an open fact that Disney has been reluctant to cast him in a sequel, and in fact, since the 2017 release of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Last Airbender,” there have been no sequels to the film. The Last Pirates,” which was released in 2017.
