Lea has often stated that she would like to play Fanny Brice someday. She sang the song “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from “Fanny Girl” on the drama “Glee,” in which she also appeared, and performed the song at the 2010 Tony Awards ceremony.

After “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy bought the rights to “Funny Girl,” there were rumors that Lea’s dream would soon come true, but she declined, saying, “Performing in ‘Glee’ was the best I could do.
