Lea Michele may finally get the lead role in the hit musical.

The hit Broadway musical “Funny Girl” premiered in 1964 and was made into a movie in 1968. The 2022 revival of the biographical work about the life of Broadway comedienne Fanny Brice stars Beanie Feldstein in the lead role.

Lea Michele may finally get the lead role in that hit musical.

When Beanie Feldstein leaves the production in September of this year, the actress Lea Michele is being touted as her successor.

Lea has often stated that she would like to play Fanny Brice someday. She sang the song “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from “Fanny Girl” on the drama “Glee,” in which she also appeared, and performed the song at the 2010 Tony Awards ceremony.

After “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy bought the rights to “Funny Girl,” there were rumors that Lea’s dream would soon come true, but she declined, saying, “Performing in ‘Glee’ was the best I could do. However, she reportedly turned down the offer, saying that her performance in “Glee” was the best she could do.

On the other hand, when she appeared on a talk show in 2017, she said, “I wanted to join right after ‘Glee,’ but I sang a lot of ‘Funny Girl’ songs in the drama, so it seemed a bit early. But I’m just motivated, so maybe the opportunity will present itself soon,” she said eagerly.

Still, on her podcast “Little Me: Growing Up Broadway” last fall, Lea said of Beanie Feldstein, who was chosen for the revival, “I think Beanie is perfect for this production. I think Beanie is perfect for this production. It’s going to be a great production.

Lea has not officially commented on her participation in “Funny Girl” at this time.
