Metallica’s classic song “Master Of Puppets,” which was used in season 4 of the popular Netflix drama “Stranger Things” continues to gain momentum. It has since climbed to No. 12 and entered the top 10 in the U.S. and U.K. It also made it to the Top 10 in the U.S. and the U.K. It also showed a rapid rise on Spotify’s Top 50 Viral Chart in Japan, reaching No. 1 there on July 10.
No. 2 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “Best Metal Albums of All Time” in the U.S.
The song became a topic of conversation when metal-loving Eddie, played by Joseph Quinn in the play, performed it at the end of Season 4, and a video of Joseph Quinn actually playing “Master Of Puppets” on the guitar was released on Twitter.

Prior to this, Metallica released a video on TikTok of all four members performing the song together along with a scene from the drama, with the comment “Eddie, this is for you!

The song appeared at #47 on the latest UK Singles Chart. It has the potential to enter the Top 40 when the chart is released this Friday, and if so, it could become Metallica’s first Top 40 entry since 2008 and break the record of #47 set in 1986, when it was originally released. Since it is rare for a metal band’s song to top the singles chart, the effect of the drama seems to be tremendous.

The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include “Master of Puppets” in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away… it’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?
It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.
The official Netflix channel on YouTube has also released a scene from the show in which “Master Of Puppets” is used in “Stranger Things 4.
Metallica’s third album “Master Of Puppets,” released in 1986 and containing “Master Of Puppets,” was ranked second on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “Best Metal Albums of All Time,” and in 2016 the Library of Congress named it to the National Register of Preserved Significant Sound Recordings, and is one of the most important albums in music history.
