Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck received their marriage license in Clark County, Nevada on Saturday, July 16, local time. The marriage was announced by Jennifer in a newsletter for fans on Sunday, July 17. Jennifer said, “We made it. Love is a beautiful and generous thing. And it has proven to be patient; it has endured for 20 years,” she wrote.

Jennifer and Ben are now married after 18 years together. Last night we flew to Las Vegas to stand in line for a permit with four other couples. We all traveled to the world mecca of weddings in the same way. Behind us were two men holding hands and embracing. In front of us was a young couple who had driven three hours from Victorville for their daughter’s second birthday. All of us wanted the same thing: to be recognized by the world as partners. We all wanted the same thing: to be recognized by the world as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient, almost universal symbol of marriage.
We somehow made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight. The chapel people were kind enough to open the chapel a few minutes late and let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible that I believe was once used by the King (though there was an extra charge if you wanted to see Elvis himself, he was already asleep).
In front of the best witnesses imaginable in a small chapel, wearing old movie dresses and jackets from Ben’s closet, we read vows we had made up and gave each other rings we would wear for the rest of our lives. The chapel even had a (short) bluetooth for us to walk down the (short) aisle. But in the end, it was the best wedding we could have imagined. The wedding we had dreamed of for so long (in the country, in Las Vegas, in a pink convertible, and in each other’s eyes) was finally a reality.””When love is real, what matters in a marriage is each other. And the only thing that matters in a marriage is the promise to love, care, understand, and be patient, loving, and good to the other. For us it was that and more. It is the best night of our lives.”
Jennifer concludes by writing. Jennifer concluded by writing, “They were right when they said all we needed was love. We have five wonderful children, a wonderful new family full of love, and a life to look forward to for no better reason than this, and we are deeply grateful. If we don’t give up, we may find the best moment of our lives in a Las Vegas chapel with a drive-through wedding at 12:30 am, in a drive-through tunnel of love, with our children, and with the person we will spend eternity with. Love is a wonderful thing. Maybe it is the best thing, and maybe it is worth the wait”. And “Love to you. Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck,” she concluded with her new name. On Instagram, she also showed a happy selfie, taken the next day in bed.
