The U.S. release date for the sequel to “Joker,” in which actor Joaquin Phoenix played the iconic Batman villain, the Joker, has been revealed. The film is officially titled “Joker: Folie A Deux.

While the DCEU expands year after year, Warner Bros. has begun to launch DC branch projects that exist outside of the main franchise. one of the most talked about stand-alone films not part of the DCEU is “Joker.”
Starring Joaquin Phoenix, “The Joker” followed the life of Arthur Fleck, a Gotham City man living with mental problems and his transformation into the infamous Joker. Directed by Todd Phillips, “The Joker” was a success, grossing $1.074 billion at the worldwide box office, but the film’s success was not limited to box office receipts. The Joker was nominated for several Academy Awards and Joaquin won Best Actor.
Director Phillips recently revealed the official title of Joker 2. Since then, news that Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn in the sequel and that it will be a musical has also been reported.

Now, the release date for “Joker: Folie A Deux” has finally been set, with Deadline reporting that Warner Bros. has set the U.S. release date for “Joker: Folie A Deux” for October 4. Production will reportedly begin this December. Phillips is once again directing the sequel, and he is co-writing the script with Scott Silver, who wrote the screenplay for the first Joker film. No casting decisions have been made as of yet, other than Phoenix as the Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
The announcement comes less than 24 hours after Warner Bros. canceled the “Batgirl” film, which had already finished shooting.
