Rust” was a western film starring Alec Baldwin, Travis Fimmel of “Vikings” and Jensen Acres of “Supernatural. On October 21, 2021 local time, Alec was practicing handling a revolver on the set of Bonanza Creek Ranch in Bonanza City, New Mexico, when a single gunshot went off, wounding director Joel Souza and killing cinematographer Halina Hutchins.

In a statement shared with Insider recently, Rust Movie Productions announced that it has settled the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchins’ family. Halina Hutchins’ husband Matthew said in the statement, “Filming on ‘Rust,’ for which I will now serve as executive producer, will resume in January 2023 with all of the original principal characters.” Joel Souza, who was injured in an accident last year, will continue as director. Joel said, “It is indeed bittersweet, but I am happy to be able to finish what Halina and I started together. All my efforts in this film are dedicated to honoring Halina’s legacy and making her proud. It is an honor to be able to complete this film on her behalf.”

Speaking of Alec, he also said that he feared for his life after former President Donald Trump publicly stated that he thought he shot the cinematographer on purpose. The stress created by such fear caused Alec to comment that he had “lost years of his life.
