Popular actor Tom Cruise has been forced to hire a heavyweight bodyguard after a string of death threats from former staff members.
‘Angry protests’ and ‘fear of further retaliation’
Tom has hired a security team after he and “Mission: Impossible” series director Christopher McQuarrie received a series of threats from former staff members. According to The Sun, Christopher prepared the security team after the stunt producer was fired, resulting in “angry protests” and “fears of further retaliation.
A source close to the “Mission: Impossible” series told the magazine, “Tom and Chris are still working on the series; the eighth film is being produced primarily in England, but things are getting increasingly unpleasant with the former crew.” He continued, “It’s all about strict protection and threats on the set, and now the same thing is happening behind the camera.” According to the magazine, this former crew member was tasked with finding a location for the filming, including a scene depicting the train crash, but his plan was never carried out in the movie.
The source said, “(Tom) is used to having a security team around him most of the time because of his reputation,” “but this is very new for Chris.
The fired staff also filed a lawsuit against Tom, Christopher, and Paramount Studios, the magazine reported. And the source added, “Everything has gotten very testy, but… Film insiders are convinced that everything is totally fine and that he [the fired staff member] is just an angry ex-staff member.”
