Behind the glamorous world of a star, Selena Gomez has faced many painful obstacles.

Selena began her career in show business at an early age and became a star with the Disney Channel production “Wizards of Waverly Place. As a singer, Selena has also been active, reaching No. 1 on the charts, and is now an entrepreneur with her own cosmetics brand.

Selena has also attracted a great deal of attention in her personal life. In the past, she has been the subject of gossip magazines for her romantic relationship with popular singer Justin Bieber, which has repeatedly broken up and gotten back together. In addition, she battled with lupus, an autoimmune and incurable disease. He has also been hit by numerous obstacles behind the glamorous world of star power, including kidney transplant surgery, mental health issues, and bipolar disorder.

Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me,” which will finally be available on “Apple TV+,” follows six years of Selena’s life, from her “Revival Tour,” to the release of her album “Rare,” to meeting the people of her hometown, to the pandemic, to the present. The film follows six years of Selena’s life, from the release of “Rare”, her interaction with people in her hometown, the pandemic, to the present.

I’ll let you in on my darkest secret.”

At the beginning of the film, Selena is shown in her 2019 press tour in Paris. The Selena is visibly exhausted, and her friend Raquel asks, “How are you feeling?” to which Selena silences her by saying, “I’m pretty tired. Then, with her voice over this image, Selena reads a part of her diary: “I promise, I will tell you my darkest secret. I’ll tell you my darkest secret,” she says, opening the documentary.

Mental health slowly deteriorated from the “Revival Tour.”

In 2016, Selena toured with her “Revival Tour” in support of her “Revival” album; at a costume fitting for the tour at the end of 2015, she shows herself to be unsatisfied with her childish body. Even though Selena looks beautiful and perfect, it seems that her complex about looking childish has not disappeared over the years.

After rehearsals, she cries because she is not satisfied with her performance and visuals at rehearsals, saying, “Everything is terrible from the beginning. The pressure of the performance was crushing her, and it could be seen from the screen, but when the first day of the tour arrived, she performed with aplomb in front of her fans. She was so full of love for her fans that when the audience sang along to her hit song “Who Says,” she was moved to tears at one point.

After 55 performances, however, Selena had a mental health crisis and canceled the rest of her performances. The media suspected her of having anxiety, depression, and panic disorder, and rumors of drugs and other things.

More portrayal of Selena’s mental health issues than ever before.

Selena has been open about her mental health issues in the past, but this film depicts her struggles more deeply and specifically.

Selena’s mother, Mandy, learns of Selena’s mental health breakdown through the gossip media outlet TMZ and weeps for her daughter, worried that even if she is able to get out, she will fall back into this darkness. Teresa, Selena’s former manager, also worries about Selena’s mental health and decides that she should stop touring because of fear again.

After the tour, Selena has reached a level where she even loses the will to live. She denies her body, talks about her suicidal thoughts, and also rages against vanity and the effects of her bipolar disorder, hitting her family and close friends hard and later regretting it, all nakedly and with tears in her eyes.

Returning to her hometown in Texas to regain peace of mind

Selena’s mother gave birth to her when she was still a student, and her parents separated when Selena was five years old. After that, she began spending time with her maternal grandparents. After her mother, the closest person in the world to her is her cousin.

In this documentary, Selena returns to her hometown in Texas to find peace of mind and reconnect with the people she has known since she was a child.

We get a rare glimpse of the real Selena, as she goes to a fast food drive-through with her cousin, eats dinner together, and parks her car in a harbor-like area to sit on the ground and talk.

Selena also visited her alma mater. Reflecting on her memories of her alma mater, she teaches the students about the importance of doing what they want to do. It is also very precious to see her go back to her roots, visiting the house where she lived when she was little and meeting her classmates.

She has announced to the world that she is bipolar: “I’m ready to say I’m sad.”

In 2020, Selena made her first public announcement of her diagnosis of bipolar disorder (a psychotic disorder in which a person is repeatedly in a state of active mania and depressed mood) when she appeared on singer Miley Cyrus’s Instagram Live.

When I was first told of the diagnosis, I didn’t know how to process it,” she said honestly. I thought, “What if it happens again? What if the next time I have symptoms, I can’t go back to the way I was before? Then I spent my days learning about the disease. I took it one day at a time and got through it,” she said.

After overcoming the hard days, Selena released the song “Lose You To Love Me” about her past love, saying “I am ready to say I am sad. On this, Selena says, “I was totally screwed up, but I was able to find myself again.”

In the documentary, she shows past media reports and mentions her boyfriend Justin Bieber’s name many times. It seems that the days of being constantly asked about Justin and people obsessing over Selena and Justin were quite overwhelming for her, but we can see how she was finally able to get over it.

The “ultimate dream” is to save people

Selena, who has a fundamental desire to save people, was asked, “What is your ultimate dream? She says that she wants to help people through her music, herself, and what she has overcome.

Selena went to Kenya to visit WE College, a school supported by WE Charity, and talked with local children.

She wants to support “WE College,” but the news comes that “WE Charity” is closing down its operations in Canada. The political fallout from the Liberal government’s plan to let the multi-million dollar (hundreds of millions of yen) student volunteer program operate led to its financial collapse.

The collapse of WE Charity has left Selena in a state of shock, but it is here that she decides to go it alone with her foundation, the Rare Impact Fund, which she has set up herself.

In the film, there is a memorable scene in which Selena cries, “I grew up feeling that I was always not good enough,” but it is here that Selena comes to think, “Maybe I am good enough. I don’t necessarily have to do it with someone else, but I have the courage to stand up for the world.

In 2020, Selena establishes a foundation, the Rare Impact Fund, to raise $1 million to provide free mental health resources to young people. In May of the same year, Selena and the Rare Impact Fund teamed up with the White House to host the first Youth Action Forum on mental health. Selena met with the President to discuss creating a curriculum on mental health for the nation’s schools.

Even Selena, one of the world’s biggest stars, has suffered and struggled a lot, and in the end, she sends an important message that it is okay to be who you are.
