Prince Harry has now given an interview to The Telegraph. Prince Harry’s controversial memoir “Spare,” which was released on Tuesday, January 10, continues to be a source of controversy.
Will there be a second “Spare”?
In an interview, he revealed that “Spare” was twice as long as the first draft.
The “Spare” that was released was approximately 400 pages. However, it was initially about 800 pages.
In an interview, he said, “The book could have been two books. The hardest part was getting rid of a lot of things,” said Prince Harry. “Especially between me and my brother, and between me and my father, there were a lot of things. It’s something I don’t want the world to know. If I reveal it, they will not forgive me,” he said, revealing the reason for the cut.
According to Prince Harry, he had about 50 online exchanges with the ghostwriter who wrote the book. There were times when he struggled with which content to include and which to omit.
Spare” was released on January 10 and sold 1.43 million copies on its first day in the UK, US, and Canada, becoming the fastest-selling nonfiction book in history and setting a Guinness World Record.
Larry Finlay of publisher Transworld Penguin Random House said, “We knew this book would sell, but it has far exceeded our bullish expectations,” adding, “As far as we know, the only book that has sold more on its first day is the ‘Harry Potter’ series.” He added.
Note that the book is available at major online retailers such as Waterstones, WHSmith, and Amazon at half price (14 pounds) instead of the recommended retail price of 28 pounds (4,410 yen).
