Will Smith was in hot water after slapping comedian Chris Rock at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. After that, he did not appear on the stage much, but he returned to the screen with his new movie “Emancipation,” which was released in the U.S. on December 2 this year.
Will said that he was more worried about the cast and crew than his own success with the release of the film “Emancipation.
Will explained that he feared the film would be blacklisted during awards season because of his slap on the wrist to Chris Rock.
In an interview with Extra, Will said, “My biggest fear is that the team will be penalized for my actions. I want my guys to have flowers,” he said, revealing his feelings on the matter.
But the film has helped Will, he said. He revealed his desire for a fresh start, saying, “It was essential for me to be able to re-establish my purpose in this world, build my life, team up with people, and keep myself on the tracks of my sacred train.”
The film “Emancipation” is set in the American South, where slavery still exists, and is based on the true story of a black man who escaped from slavery. It is directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring and produced by Will Smith.
