Chargers, playoff-bound with a win, take on Colts in hostile territory

On Monday, December 26, the Los Angeles Chargers took on the Indianapolis Colts in hostile territory for a potential playoff berth in a game played as Monday Night Football in Week 16 of the season.

The Chargers made the playoffs for the first time since the 2018 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs have already won back-to-back AFC West titles, but the Chargers, who are tied for second place, still have a chance to make the postseason. A win would have clinched a wild card slot for the Chargers.

The Chargers, who will continue their season after mid-January, have been without key players with injuries, but pass rusher Joey Bosa (groin) and left tackle (LT) Rashawn Slater (biceps) could be back by the Chargers’ wild card game.

The AFC postseason ticket is still up for grabs, and the top team among those in range is the 8-7 Miami Dolphins, followed by the Patriots, Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars — all with 7-8 losses — are the names on the list.

The Titans and Jaguars are vying for the AFC South title, while the Dolphins-Patriots matchup in Week 17 of the season could be the first domino to fall in the battle for the remaining wild card slot.
