The round of 32 of the Copa del Rey took place on January 4.
Barcelona advanced to the Round of 16 without a hitch.
Barcelona (1st division), the reigning champions of the tournament for the 2020-21 season, took on Inter City (3rd division). Barcelona took the lead early in the match with a header from Ronald Araujo, but allowed Oriol Soldevilla Pucci to equalize from a set piece in the second half. Barcelona then got on the board with a looping shot from Ousmane Dembele, but Soldevilla Pucci equalized again, and although Jordi Alba crossed the ball for Jafinha to score in the 77th minute, Soldevilla Pucci scored his hat trick in the 86th minute to send the game into extra time. After an unexpectedly hard-fought match, Barcelona got their third win of the day in the 103rd minute when Ans Fatih sank a cross ball from the right side of the field. Real Sociedad (1st Division) faced Logronies (3rd Division) in hostile territory. Kubo Tatehide was a precautionary no-show due to discomfort in his quadriceps muscle. The results of the Copa del Rey so far are as follows: The last 16 will be determined after the three matches to be played on May 5. The draw for the Round of 16 will be held on November 7.
