They have advanced to the postseason just once.

Rapoport also reported that in addition to Kingsbury’s dismissal, sources revealed that general manager (GM) Steve Keim will step down from his duties to focus on his health.

The Cardinals then announced these moves.

The team said in a statement, “We are pleased to announce that Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury has been relieved of his duties. Additionally, General Manager Steve Keim has decided to step away from his duties to focus on his own health. The team wishes them both the best in the future and thanks each of them for their contributions.”

Kingsbury had just signed a contract extension through 2027 after leading the Cardinals to the playoffs last season. However, the franchise will now go in a different direction as the Cardinals finished the 2022 season with a 4-13 record.

In Kingsbury’s four years at the helm of the Cardinals, the team’s record is 28-37-1 and has advanced to the postseason just once.

Keim has been the Cardinals’ GM for the last 10 seasons. It was initially announced on December 14 that he was placed on indefinite leave of absence for health reasons.
