Tom Cruise and director Steven Spielberg reunited at a lunch attended by Academy Award nominees. The content of the conversation that was overheard became the topic of conversation.
Director Spielberg’s words to Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg, who worked together on “Minority Report” (2002) and “War of the Worlds” (2005), were reunited at a lunch meeting attended by Academy Award nominees. Top Gun: Maverick,” in which Tom starred, and “THE FABELMANS,” directed by Spielberg, are nominated in multiple categories, including Best Picture, at the 95th Academy Awards, which will be presented on March 12, local time.
After exchanging a few words with Tom at the lunch, Spielberg told him, “You saved Hollywood.
You saved Hollywood. You saved Hollywood. You saved film distribution. More importantly, Top Gun: Maverick may have saved the entire film industry.
Here is a video that captures the moment.

Top Gun: Maverick” had to be postponed several times due to the Corona Disaster because of Tom’s strong desire for people to see the film in theaters instead of streaming services (online release). The film, which was released just in time for the holidays, became a worldwide blockbuster, grossing over $1.488 billion worldwide.
Incidentally, Tom shook his head in humility at the compliment from Director Spielberg, as if to say that he was too afraid.
