The visuals for “Joker: Folie à Deux,” the sequel to the film “The Joker,” have been unveiled, revealing Harley Quinn, played by singer Lady Gaga.

Todd Phillips, director of the film “Joker: Folie à Deux,” updated his Instagram on February 14 as a Valentine’s Day gift.

The photo posted there shows Joaquin Phoenix, who continues to play the Joker from the previous film, and Lady Gaga, who plays Harley Quinn for the first time. This is the first time that a visual of Gaga as Harley Quinn has been released.

In this photo, Harley Quinn, played by Gaga, is pressed against a wall, with the Joker’s face just inches away. Harley is holding the Joker’s face in her hands, which stirs the imagination. There is red lipstick on each other’s faces, and whether Harley’s is on the Joker’s, or vice versa, remains to be seen in the movie.

The first film, “The Joker,” was based on the villain Joker from the DC Comics “Batman” series and was adapted into a movie by Todd Phillips. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, and Zazie Beetz, the film was filmed in a dark world as a standalone film not part of the DC Extended Universe.

Todd Phillips was also the producer on the film “Ally: The Birth of a Star,” starring Lady Gaga.

According to Variety, the sequel will tell the story of the Joker/Arthur Fleck, who is committed to the mental hospital Arkham Asylum, although details of the sequel’s storyline have not been revealed. It is believed that the story will depict the Joker’s love affair with Harley Quinn, the Joker’s psychiatrist, with whom he later becomes lovers.

It is also said to be a musical, which is quite a change of style from the previous film. Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled for release in the U.S. on October 4, 2024.
