The hotel that Lagerfeld supervised entirely during his lifetime, including the interior design and world view, is scheduled to open in June 2023.
The Karl Lagerfeld Macau, a luxurious five-star hotel that combines style and luxury worthy of its name, will open in June 2023.
The hotel will be located within Macau’s Grand Lisboa Palace Resort and will be the only hotel in the world where everything from the rooms to the bathrobes and bed sheets will be designed by the late fashion legend and former creative director of Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld. The hotel has 271 rooms.
The hotel has a total of 271 rooms. The interiors will be inspired by Chinese art, including custom-made headboards with coin motifs, handmade vases from Jingdezhen and partitions inspired by the circular gates found in traditional Chinese gardens.
The hotel’s worldview is inspired by the beauty of Chinoiserie, a modern rethinking of local craftsmanship, bold use of colour and sophisticated Western aesthetics.
The hotel’s restaurant, The Mesa, offers a creative menu by José Aviles, a chef from Lisbon’s two-star Belcanto restaurant, a library with 4,000 books, a spa and wellness centre and a swimming pool.
In addition, Lagerfeld’s cherished collaboration with artists, such as custom-made sculptures by Dutch product designer Marcel Wanders and French artist Jean-Michel Othniel, and chandeliers by the Italian TERZANI Lagerfeld’s passion for collaborating with artists can be seen everywhere.
The Karl Lagerfeld Macau is owned by SJM Resorts, the luxury hotel group that operates the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort.
Lagerfeld worked with SJM on the hotel project until his death in 2019, making it his most extensive and personal interior project. For a truly haute couture hotel experience, there is no better place than this hotel.
