BTS JIMIN’s solo song ‘Like Crazy’ reached No.1 on the US Billboard HOT 100!

JIMIN, a member of the popular K-pop group BTS, has made a mark in the history of Korean pop music with ‘Like Crazy’, the title track of his first solo album.

According to the latest US Billboard chart (dated 8 April) released on 3 April (local time), ‘Like Crazy’, the title track of JIMIN’s solo album ‘FACE’ released on 24 April, topped the main singles chart ‘HOT 100’. JIMIN has previously ranked No. 2 on the main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ with ‘FACE’.

According to US Billboard, JIMIN became the first Korean solo artist to be named No. 1 on the ‘HOT 100’ and ‘Like Crazy’ was recorded as the 66th song in Billboard history to go straight to No. 1 upon entering the ‘HOT 100’. The ‘HOT 100’ is Billboard’s main chart that compiles singles rankings based on streaming, radio airplay and sound source sales (downloads and CDs), and ‘Like Crazy’ received a total of 254,000 downloads and CD sales in the weekly tally (24-30 March), It was also counted as having recorded 10 million streamings and 64,000 radio airplay.

 

US Billboard reported that “JIMIN joined the ranks of artists who occupied the top spot on the ‘HOT 100’ as a team and solo artist respectively”.

 

JIMIN, who rose to No. 30 on the ‘HOT 100’ (dated 1 April) with the previously released song ‘Set Me Free Pt. 2’, made new history as a Korean solo artist by rising to the top of the ‘HOT 100’ with ‘Like Crazy’.

 

Through ‘FACE’, which contains his candid story, JIMIN clearly expressed his colour in both song and performance and proved his ability as an ‘all-rounder artist’. ‘FACE’ sold 1.02 million copies on its first day of release, becoming the first K-pop solo artist’s album to become a ‘million seller’ on its first day of release since the Hunt Chart started counting first sales (first week of album release). The album also became the first solo artist album of all time to sell more than 1.45 million copies in its first week.
