Musk had been CEO of Twitter since the company’s acquisition in 2022 for USD 44 billion.

According to Musk, Yaccarino will focus on business operations, while he will oversee product design and new technologies as chief technology officer (CTO).

‘I’m honoured to welcome Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO! @LindaYacc will focus on business operations, I’ll focus on product design and new technologies, and I look forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into the all-purpose App X’, Musk tweeted.

Musk said on 11 April that he had hired a new CEO for the company, which officially became X Corp. in April, but did not reveal his name; speculation over him had begun after NBCUniversal announced Yaccarino’s departure on the morning of 12 April.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Yaccarino had worked at NBCUniversal for more than a decade, most recently as chairman of global advertising and partnerships. He also played a key role in the launch of Peacock, an ad revenue-based distribution service.

Mr Musk said Mr Yaccarino would start his duties within six weeks, but did not give a specific date. We contacted Twitter about the official appointment date and subsequent priorities, but did not receive a response.
