Kevin Costner’s 19-Year-Old Wife Seeks Divorce, Refuses to Move Out, Remains in Home

Model Christine Baumgartner (49), who filed for divorce from her partner of 18 years, American actor Kevin Costner (68), has refused to move out of her home.

Baumgartner, who married Costner in 2004 and had three children with him, reportedly filed for divorce abruptly on the first of last month.

According to online media Radar Online and others, the two had signed a prenuptial agreement, and in the event of divorce, Baumgartner was to move out of the house within 30 days of the filing. However, more than a month has passed and he still refuses to leave, making it impossible for Costner to return to his home after being away for an extended period of time on business.

Costner has reportedly paid $1.2 million, including a $200,000 down payment on a new house, for his wife to move in according to a prenuptial agreement, but has stayed, and has begun legal proceedings for immediate eviction. Costner owns a home in the seaside town of Carbinteria, north of Los Angeles, California, which he purchased in 1994, as well as several properties in Aspen, Colorado, and elsewhere.

According to reports, Costner is prepared to pay $30,000 a month in rent and $10,000 in moving expenses as part of child support for their children, ages 12-15, and he claims to have enough money to purchase a new home, given that he gave $100,000 at their wedding and another $100,000 on their first wedding anniversary and has $450,000 in savings. They claim that they have enough money to buy a new house.

The source said that Costner was “flattered and very surprised” when the divorce was suddenly filed on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences.”
