Why was the project dropped?
Actress Jennifer Stone revealed that a spin-off project of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” in which she starred in the past, had been in the works.
Wizards of Waverly Place” is a popular Disney Channel drama series that aired from 2007 to 2012. Selena Gomez, who played the main character Alex, became a star with this drama.
It seems that “Wizards of Waverly Place” has had plans for a spin-off production in the past.
On Monday, June 19, a new episode of the “Wizards of Waverly Pod,” a podcast co-hosted by David DeLuise, who played Alex’s father Jerome Pepe Russo, and Jennifer Stone, who played Harper Ann Finkel, was released.
During the fan question segment, one fan suggested that “we need a Harper and Alex spin-off,” to which Jennifer responded.
Jennifer said, “I don’t know how true this is, but I was told that [the spin-off] was suggested to Selena. I’d have to ask her about this, and I’ve never asked her about this, but I was told that when I pitched the Harper/Alex spinoff idea to her, she said no. She had a lot of work to do at the time,” he said, revealing that a spin-off was in the works but was scrapped due to Selena’s busy schedule.
