More than 300 members, including Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep, are negotiating

They have signed a letter to the executives of SAG-AFTRA, the Screen Actors Guild of America, and are prepared to go on strike if they cannot reach agreement with major Hollywood movie studios, production companies, and streaming services on a new contract.

Rolling Stone magazine reported that the letter states. We hope you have heard our message. We feel that wages, technology, creative freedom, and the power of our union have all declined in the last decade. We need to reverse these trajectories.”

The letter is signed by Elizabeth Banks, Rami Malek, Elliott Page, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Eva Longoria, Ben Stiller, Brendan Fraser, Neil Patrick Harris, Amy Schumer, Amy Poehler, and Kinta Branson. Famous actors have also signed the petition, he said.

Union members say they are concerned that “members are prepared to make sacrifices, but the executives are not,” and with only a few days left before the end of the contract, they are “prepared to go on strike if they have to” in order to “cause tremendous hardship to so many people.

As negotiations continue over minimum wage, health insurance, pensions, re-use fees to account for streaming growth, use of AI, and other issues, Fran Drescher, the union’s president, released a video message before the deadline of the 30th of this month, stating that “very productive negotiations are ongoing” and “we are stand firm and achieve an impactful contract,” she said.
