It was reported that Mick Jagger (79), frontman of the British rock band Rolling Stones, is engaged to his girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick (36), a former ballerina.
Melanie was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger last month.
She revealed to local media that “this ring was given to me by Mick,” but did not disclose the fact of her engagement, saying that she calls the ring a promise ring.
The Mirror, a British media outlet, reported on June 1 (local time) that Mick Jagger is engaged to his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, whom he has been dating since 2014.
Melanie published her debut novelist novel “First Position” on June 20, and that week she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.
At the time, Melanie told The Mirror, “I should chuckle. Because Mick gave me this ring? Yeah, that’s right,” she said.
However, she did not reveal that what Mick gave her was an “engagement ring,” but instead gave this explanation.
Is this the one you’re going to wear on that finger? Yes, indeed. But we are devoted to each other like passionate teenagers. In my mind, this is a promise ring. We’re going to be immature, so I’m going to call it a promise ring.”
The ring, however, was revealed to be the engagement ring that Mick officially proposed to her with.
A source told the media, “Melanie told her friends when she was at the American Ballet Theater that she and Mick were engaged.

This person added, “She made it clear that what she was wearing was her engagement ring and that she was now his fiancée. Her family is truly understanding and thrilled that they are engaged”.
He added, “We are not planning a wedding, but getting engaged means a lot to Melanie. All of her friends are overjoyed,” he added.
Mick and Melanie met in February 2014 in Tokyo, where each was on tour. Melanie and her friends visited the backstage area of a “Rolling Stones” concert venue and met Mick.
At the time, Melanie had a fiancée, and Mick was dating Lauren Scott, an American fashion designer. However, Lauren was found dead at her home in March of the same year, and reportedly took her own life due to debt and financial difficulties.
In July of the same year, Mick invited Melanie to a Rolling Stones concert in the Swiss city, and they began dating; their first child, a son, Devereaux (6), was born in December 2016. He has a son, Callis (52), with actress and singer Marcia Hunt, and a daughter, Jade (51), with Bianca Perez Mora Macias, to whom he was married from 1971 to 1978.
He and model Jerry Hall, his partner from 1997 to 1999, have daughter Elizabeth (39), son James (37), daughter Georgia (31), and son Gabriel (25). Mick and Jerry wed in Bali in 1990, but the marriage was later annulled.
In 1999, they had a son, Lucas (24), with Brazilian model Luciana Jimenez. Deveraux, Mick’s eighth child with Melanie.
