Celine Dion (55), the world-famous diva who has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, an incurable disease of the nervous system, has opened up about her current condition by her own sister, Claudette Dion (74).
No medicine has been found that works, but it is important to have hope!
In an interview with the Canadian tabloid Le Journal de Montréal, Claudette confessed that Céline is struggling to find a cure. Although top researchers in the field are treating Celine, her health has shown little improvement, she said.
Claudette says, “We haven’t found a medicine that works, but it’s important to have hope.”
Celine suffers from stiff-person syndrome, a progressive neurological disorder that causes stiffness in the muscles of the torso, arms, and legs. Although there is no clear data, it is said to occur in 1 in 1 million people. According to the Daily Mail, there is currently no cure for the disease, but it is possible to slow its progression.
Celine was forced to cancel her world tour after being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, but Claudette says it was a necessary decision for her rehabilitation.
‘Honestly, I think she mainly needs the rest. She always does things beyond expectations, always tries her best, always tries to be in tip-top shape. At some point, your mind and body may try to tell you something. It’s important to listen to that.”
According to Claudette, Celine’s sister, Linda, has now moved into Celine’s home in Las Vegas and is taking care of her.
Celine announced last December that she has stiff-person syndrome. Celine revealed that the disease is interfering with her life and singing voice, saying, “Sometimes it is difficult for me to walk and I cannot sing using my vocal cords as I used to. She also revealed that she is facing her illness with the goal of “performing on stage” again.
