It has been almost a year since the iPhone 14 series was launched, and 9ToMac reports that there have been numerous reports on X and Raddit that the maximum battery capacity of the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max has dropped significantly over the past year.
We checked this out through “maximum battery capacity.”
The “maximum battery capacity” indicates the maximum percentage of charge that a new iPhone can currently hold when fully charged, which is 100%. You can check it from “Settings” -> “Battery” -> “Battery Status and Charging”.
When I checked there, I found that even though it has been less than a year since I bought my iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max, there are reports from all over that the maximum capacity has dropped to around 90%.
I checked with my iPhone 14 Pro and it was at 90%…. Shocking…. At this rate, it will be 80% after another year of use….
The cause of the problem is not clear.
The cause of the problem is not clear at this point. There is a possibility that the constant lighting function of the display may be affecting the battery, but Apple has not commented on this.
Well, it is true that the constant lighting may be putting a strain on the battery. If you are concerned about it, you may turn it off.
When it finally goes bad, replace the battery.
This battery is at its maximum capacity drop. If it is still at 90% or so, it is not a problem, but if it drops below 80%, the iPhone may suddenly shut down (as experienced with past iPhones).
The best way to deal with this situation would be to use the battery replacement service offered by Apple.
The cost is 14,900 Japanese yen in Japan for both the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, and is free if you have AppleCare+. The procedure can be found on the iPhone Battery Service page.
I plan to use my iPhone 14 Pro for another year, so I pray that the battery won’t deteriorate any further.
