Keanu Reeves, who stars in “John Wick: Chapter 4,” which was released in the U.S. on March 24 and opened in Japan on September 22, praised his co-star Rina Sawayama, who makes her acting debut in this film.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Keanu responded to in March of this year, referring to Rina, who plays the role of Akira in “John Wick: Chapter 4,” he said, “I think she was just amazing. She took time out of her busy schedule to come all the way to our training camp and put in intensive training. She was very dedicated. Plus, she has a background in dance, so the way she moved her body was really great,” he said, praising Rina’s sense of action.
Keanu was also surprised by Rina’s acting skills, saying, “If you watch the movie, you will see how good she is and what flavor her acting brought to the fight and the character. It was really great, so,” he said, giving his approval not only for her action sense but also for her acting ability.
Incidentally, Rina was initially reluctant to make her debut as an actress, and when director Chad Stahelski called her with an offer to appear in the film, she turned it down, citing her lack of experience in acting and action. However, the director enthusiastically invited her to join the film, and after spending time with the director, Keanu, and the stunt team in Berlin, she readily agreed to appear in the film. This film marks her debut as an actress.
