The decision to co-host the World Cup with Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will be made official at next year’s General Assembly.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup, it was also decided to hold one match each in three South American countries: Uruguay, which hosted the first World Cup in 1930, plus Argentina and Paraguay. A ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary will be held in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.

In addition, the committee also confirmed that the host city for the 2034 tournament will be selected from the Asian and Oceania regions, in accordance with the basic policy of rotating the host city among the continents. In response, the Saudi Arabian federation announced its intention to bid for the 2034 event. The next 2026 tournament will be held in three North and Central American countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
